Last year, St Paul’s School Board responded to the needs of the school by reducing the class structure down to two classes for 2022. This year, our Board Members have once again made a decision that meets the current needs of our school and have endorsed the restructure to return to a three-class model for 2023.

With the sad news of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, it is important we acknowledge her role as Head of State and a fitting way to do so is through prayer.

We pray in thanks of Queen Elizabeth the Second, for a historic reign and a long life devoted to duty, family, faith and service.

Our Future is Looking Strong

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Based on our 2023 student enrolments, the class structure for next year will most likely be:

Kindergarten and Year 1

Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4

Year 5 and Year 6

This is positive news for our school community as we continue to grow, not only in student numbers but also as we increase the size of our staff team. We will begin the process of recruiting another full-time teacher to begin at the start of next year and communicate further details regarding our new 2023 structure in the near future.

A Prayer for Queen Elizabeth II

We offer our deepest condolences to the Royal Family, who are grieving for a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Our hearts go out to the people of the United Kingdom who mourn today, knowing they will feel they have lost part of what makes their nation whole.

We thank her for her seven remarkable decades on the throne. Her Majesty was a rare and reassuring constant amidst rapid change. She embodied and exhibited a timeless decency and an enduring calm.

We give thanks for Queen Elizabeth the Second, in Jesus Name, AMEN.

Public Holiday

Due to the announcement of a National Day of Mourning for the Queen, we can confirm the school will be closed on Thursday 22 September. Our final day for Term 3 will be Friday 23 September.

HAPPENINGS WITH HOLLIE

It's hard to believe that Term 3 has almost come to an end!

The playground has been a hive of activity lately. Skipping has been very popular and handball as always has been a hit. With so much rain and a very wet oval, footy hasn't been able to make much of an appearance, however, if the sun is shining, the footballs are out.

Miss H has been doing a great job in Creative Arts this term doing Dance. In Junior Primary, the students have been exploring different movements and have enjoyed the opportunity to get their bodies moving to different rhythms. Seniors have been looking at music through the decades. They have looked at dance movements from each decade to create their own dance sequence to a song popular to that decade, e.g. Thriller from the 80s!

I've been enjoying seeing students' creativity and courage on show throughout the term and I look forward to sharing the focus for Term 4 shortly.

With the Henty Field Days around the corner, I'd like to thank the P&F for their massive efforts in organising. I'm excited to be part of the Henty community for the Field Days and will be on our combined Lutheran Schools stand with St Paul's College, St John's and SPH. Come and say hi!

Blessings and thank you for your support this term. I pray you have a restful break with your families.

YEAR K/1/2

This week our Kinders have been looking at the word 'beach'. We all decided to pretend we were at the beach by writing our word and sentences in the sand.

In PBL we have been learning about making healthy food options, keeping safe in different environments and making our own games in order to keep fit and healthy.

YEAR 3/4/5/6

Hi families,

3-6 have had a fantastic and very busy term! Last week, 3-6 investigated how hydraulics work by creating a forklifting using a syringe system. We used our problem-solving skills and creative thinking to design our forklifts. By the end of the lesson, all groups had an operating hydraulic forklift!

Many blessings,

Miss Ridley

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Operation Christmas Child is a hands-on way for Australians and New Zealanders to bless children in need around the world by filling shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies and other fun gifts. The gift-filled shoeboxes are then collected and distributed to children in over 100 countries in the Name of Jesus Christ.

After receiving a shoebox gift, many children have the opportunity to enrol in The Greatest Journey – a 12-lesson Bible study course that guides children through what it means to faithfully follow Jesus Christ.

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to provide God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

In previous years we have sent a shoebox home with each family - but this year we are going to do it a little different! Over the upcoming school holidays we are asking families to start buying suitable gifts. Early in Term 4 we are going to pool our gifts and the students are going to pack the shoeboxes together.

More information will come home with students with gift suggestions and timeframes.

Year 5/6 students were recently invited to design a cover for the upcoming edition of the Lions Henty & District Telephone & Business Directory.

Entries for the front cover of the Henty Phonebook are on display in Dales Electrical. Members of the community are invited to vote for their favourite design.

Voting slips are in Dale's Electrical, please put your name on the slip and the number of the drawing you think should go on the front cover.

Voting closes 20th September

HENTY DIRECTORY

If you find that you never seem to get around to returning cans and bottles for the 10c refund then we might have the solution you've been looking for! We will have a specially designated recycling bin in the lunch area for refundable bottles, and we would be happy to add yours to our collection. All money raised will be made available for the students to put towards resources and equipment, which they will collaborate their spending  ideas with teaching staff.
