A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

As the year draws to a close, so too does my time as Principal of this remarkable school. It is with a mix of emotions that I write to you today, as I prepare to embark on the next chapter of my leadership journey as College Principal at Victory Lutheran College.

Reflecting on the past three years, my heart is filled with immense gratitude for the privilege of serving this incredible community. It has been a true blessing to work in partnership with parents and families, who have shown unwavering support and trust throughout my time here. Together, we have shaped a nurturing Christian environment where children thrive, not only as learners but as compassionate, confident and grounded individuals.

Dear Families of St Paul’s,

Feeling Grateful and Appreciative

I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished as a community. Our students have embraced contemporary learning opportunities with enthusiasm, growing as inspired, creative and capable learners. Our dedicated staff have risen to every challenge, demonstrating a commitment to professional growth and care for the children entrusted to us. These successes are a testament to the strong sense of purpose and shared vision that defines St Paul’s.

I want to sincerely thank the incredible staff team I’ve had the privilege of working alongside. Your commitment and professionalism have been the foundation of everything we’ve achieved together. Each of you has played a vital role in creating a positive, dynamic and nurturing environment for our students and one another.

To the school board, thank you for your commitment and support. Your guidance has been a solid foundation for the decisions we’ve made and the growth we’ve pursued. Special thanks go to our Board Chair, Joanne Knobel: your partnership and dedication for this school is to be commended.

Finally, to the students of St Paul’s. I am extremely grateful to be part of your learning journey and partnering with you to help make St Paul’s the amazing school that it is. Keep speaking life into others and remember to live life to the fullest!

As I step into my new role, I will carry the memories and lessons of St Paul’s with me. I look forward to hearing about the wonderful things that lie ahead for the school. It has been a privilege to serve St Paul’s.

With deepest gratitude,

Brad Moss

On Tuesday, we listened to the Year 5 students giving their School Captain and Sports Captain speeches. All the students made us so proud. They showed qualities from our Learner Profile – in particular, risk taking. It’s not easy to get up and speak in front of the whole school and I would like to commend them for stepping out of their comfort zone and showing great courage and resilience. They would all make worthy captains and it is important to remember that all Year 6 students are part of the School Leadership Team throughout the year.

Congratulations to our captains for 2025

IMPORTANT DATES

YEAR K & 1

The K/1 class has been doing a maths investigation called Breakfast Café. In small groups, they came up with a name for their café and then decided what items they would sell. Others came along to buy their products and we had to work out the total and what change they would get from $15. The next challenge was to order breakfast from one of the cafes for 3 days with a budget of $50. No one went over the budget, proving how budget conscious they were!

In Science, we were given the challenge of making a house that the wolf could not blow down. Each group had a different material to use – straws, playing cards or popsticks. All groups were successful in building a house that the wolf (my hairdryer!) couldn’t blow done. Well done!

On Wednesday we had our last Kinder transition session. This one was all about dinosaurs. We created a walking dinosaur, made dinosaur fossils, played dinosaur snap, made dinosaurs out of shape blocks and so much more! It has been great having our new Kinder students come and visit us at St Paul’s and we are looking forward to seeing them in start Kinder in 2025!

YEAR 2 & 3

Blessings,

Miss Ridley

2/3 have created thorough designs for their PBL project on ancient and medieval machines.

They have begun to make their projects and have put their collaborative skills to practise to work with their peers. I have seen fantastic collaboration, respecting others’ opinions, and compromise.

Blessings,

Felicity

There has been a lot happening in the 4/5/6 classroom over the last two weeks.

Students have been working in their PBL groups to determine ‘How can we as engineers, educate our peers about the different forces?’ They have been working towards creating an activity/design which uses at least 3 different forces, a poster to explain and show the different forces of their project and an interactive element to share their knowledge about forces.

The class has enjoyed the opportunity to experience a taste of high school routine, being given a timetable that they have had to follow throughout the day, making sure they know which room and which class they will be attending and when, and being organised with all the necessary resources for each lesson.

This week we are using maths skills including converting units of time, reading and interpreting timetables, and solving problems involving duration. We will try to see as many of the most popular new releases as possible to complete a Maths Investigation ‘Movie Marathon’ in which they are using a fictional cinema’s holiday movie guide to plan a movie marathon. In the investigation students will use critical thinking skills to justify the choices they made to create the timeline of their day and demonstrate how they calculated the number of times the most popular movie was shown in a week.

Next Wednesday 27th November, 4/5/6 are holding a ‘Market Day’ for students, family and friends as a continuation of our ‘What’s My Business?’ PBL from term 2. These will be running from 1:30-2:30pm.

Finally, a huge congratulations to all our students who put themselves forward for school leadership roles for 2025. You all did an amazing job presenting your speeches (despite some nerves) and I look forward to working with you all as a leadership team next year!

YEAR 4 5 6

GRANDPARENT'S DAY

We had such a lovely morning spending time with our Grandparents!

The 2/3 class lead our special Grandparents Day Chapel on Tuesday which was followed by a picnic morning tea. We enjoyed playing games, reading to our grandparents and showing them around the school.

Thank you to all our grandparents and family for joining us!

P&F UPDATE

Well the Year of the Big Shed came, we saw it and we conquered it! The 2024 HMFD was a huge success. We had 150 shift spaces to fill and we did it! Thank you to all our families & friends who pitched in over the event. We needed your support and you didn't let us down.

Thanks to our combined effort we raised over $50,000!!

The P&F have decided to contribute $50,000 to be put towards a new playground and outdoor learning space at school, a place current and future students will be able to enjoy for many years to come.

Our first event in 2025 will be our annual Welcome BBQ to be held on Sunday 2nd February. This is always a great day to catch up after the summer break. More details to come in the New Year.

BERNIE O'CONNOR CARNIVAL

On Friday 1st of September, Years 3 to 6 went to Yerong Creek for the Bernie O’Connor Carnival. We played with St Joseph’s, Culcairn and St Patrick’s, Holbrook. It was a great day!  The sun was shining, and everyone had lot’s of fun.

The 5/6 boys played footy and came 1st for the whole day. We played against The Rock and the score was 12 to 32. The 3-4 boys came 3rd in the whole day. Well done to the 5/6 and 3/4 girls playing netball who got runners up.

Well done to Ivan and Neve for playing with students they didn’t know.

Congratulations to Blake for winning the furthest kicking competition.

Thank you for the coaches and families who helped on the day.
