A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Anna-Marie Bothe

Principal

Last week we had a wonderful example of living out our School Value “We are Empowered” at Grandparents Day! Thanks to Miss H for creating the Kahoot trivia competition that grandparents/special friends played with our students – it was such a great example of encouragement empowering us to work as teams, no matter what age we are. Thank you to all who attended such a big turn out for worship and cross-generational fun!

New Playground

The design for our new playground has been finalised. Thanks again to all members of our school community who gave feedback during the design process and to our amazing P&F for raising a considerable financial contribution to this project. The playground incorporates elements our students requested in a circuit layout with plenty of climbing! Our design (see picture below) includes a new concrete handball court next to the playground, with both play areas surrounded by artificial turf. Later this term, some of the old softfall surface will be removed and the new handball court will be created. Work on the playground, new softfall and artificial turf will take place over the summer school holidays and early Term 1 2026.

I thank God every time I remember you. And I always pray for all of you with joy.

CHRISTINE'S

CORNER

We thank God for the lovely rain he has provided in the last few weeks! It may not have been at the time that we chose, but it will still be useful to farmers and gardeners alike. As the weather fluctuates over the next few weeks, we would encourage students to have a jacket in their bags for those cold spells.

It was wonderful to see so many grandparents and special people here for Grandparents’ Day last Tuesday. Everyone seemed to have a fantastic time playing Kahoot, with a healthy amount of competition! You grandparents play such an important role in your grandchildren’s lives, and we are very appreciative of the influence you have on them.

Just letting you know that the dates for Year 3/4 and Year 6 chapel have been swapped, so now Year 6 chapel will be Tuesday 18th November and Year 3/4 on Tuesday 2nd December. Hoping this is not inconvenient for anyone.

Tuesday 18th November is also the day that the Year 5 students will be giving their Captains’ speeches. We wish them all the best as they prepare for this. The results will be announced on Wednesday 19th November. All parents will receive an email, letting them know who our 2026 School Captains will be. All Year 6s are part of the leadership team, whether in an official capacity or informally, and we look forward to seeing them step up to these roles.

Just a friendly reminder that students need a HAT everyday!

Thank you.

MRS BIAR'S CLASS

The K-3 cohort have continued to enjoy science experiments based on forces, in particular, push, pull and gravity.

Last week we had an experimental afternoon with experiments such as:·

- 2 finger press

- Chair lift

- Hands behind back

  • Holding a glass upside down and not spilling water
  • Balancing forks
  • Balancing a coin on a flat piece of paper
  • Tilted aluminium cans
  • Centre of gravity on humans

Ask your K - 3 student to explain what happened!

K - 2 are looking forward to leading chapel next Tuesday 11th.  You are all welcome to come along.

FREESTYLE DANCE MINISTRY

Thank you Justin!

MISS H'S CLASS

5/6 students have been enjoying Boy Overboard by Morris Gleitzman. This text covers the core human rights and social justice issues surrounding refugees, asylum seekers and mandatory detention in a fast-paced gripping story told through the eyes of a child.

In Maths, students have been working on their investigation ‘Score a Duck’.It’s showtime and that means plenty of fun and games at sideshow alley. But instead of playing a game, students are in charge of one! To play their game, a person must catch one duck from the pond using a fishing rod. Each duck has a number hidden underneath, which corresponds to a prize. Students have had to investigate a way to create a prize list using probability. They need to make sure players have fun, but also make their game profitable.

In Science, 4/5/6 have had some fun this week exploring and creating a variety of electrical circuits.

It was great to have Justin from Freestyle Dance Ministry with us again this year, sharing his gifts of dance and encouraging us to use our gifts ‘to the glory of God’.

We would like to invite you to a special Chapel service on Tuesday 18th November – the last opportunity for our Year 6 students to lead us in worship at St Paul’s. This chapel will be followed by the School Captain and House Captain speeches for 2026.

Blessings,

Felicity

BERNIE O'CONNOR CARNIVAL

What a great day students in years 3-6 had last Friday at the annual Bernie O’Connor Football/Netball carnival hosted by Yerong Creek Public School.

Congratulations to our students for showing great sportsmanship and participation throughout the day, and enjoying the opportunity to combine with students from St Joseph’s Culcairn and St Patrick’s Holbrook, displaying our values of being adventurous and relational.

Thank you to Tim (and Simeon), Matt and Jordan, Megan and Emily for coaching/managing our teams on the day.

Special congratulations to our Junior football team for winning the final, and remaining undefeated for the day.

P&F UPDATE

Well the Year of the Big Shed came, we saw it and we conquered it! The 2024 HMFD was a huge success. We had 150 shift spaces to fill and we did it! Thank you to all our families & friends who pitched in over the event. We needed your support and you didn't let us down.

Thanks to our combined effort we raised over $50,000!!

The P&F have decided to contribute $50,000 to be put towards a new playground and outdoor learning space at school, a place current and future students will be able to enjoy for many years to come.

Our first event in 2025 will be our annual Welcome BBQ to be held on Sunday 2nd February. This is always a great day to catch up after the summer break. More details to come in the New Year.
