TERM 3

WEEK 2

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Anna-Marie Bothe

Principal

Welcome to Term 3! What a great start to term we’ve had with rehearsals for the School Production, the launch of our Creative Arts PBL unit leading to a special exhibition and activity day for our mainly music families near the end of term, our second School Masterplan session and sending our playground ideas to our designer for their first draft. Wow!

This term, the new School Value we are focusing on is ‘We are Relational’. This will be the theme of our school Chapels this term and we are going to get creative in thinking of fun ways to embed this value in our everyday school life. Please note in the poster below how particular characteristics of our Staff and Learner Profiles align so well to this value. It’s perfect timing to focus on being Relational as we work together on our school production and Masterplan. Our involvement in the Henty Machinery Field Days is an incredible example of how relational we are as a school community, with so many families volunteering to help and serve.

I hope this term is a blessing to you and your family.

CHRISTINE'S

CORNER

Congratulations to Harriet, Neve, Abel and Adele who all did a wonderful job, showing how adventurous and brave they could be in a challenging environment. Whilst no students have progressed on to the next level, they can all be proud of the way that they spoke and the speeches they had prepared.

Well done to you all!

BOOK FAIR

Our Book Fair will be held in Week 4 (Tuesday 12th – Thursday 14th August).

LIONS CLUB PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION
It was wonderful to come along to school on Sunday and listen to our students represent St Paul’s at the Lion’s Public Speaking Competition.

It will be running differently to previous years. We will have one copy of each book available on display at school, but all orders will need to be completed online. Further details will be provided closer to the date. Students will be participating in a Book Parade on Thursday 14th August at 9:30am – dressing up as their favourite book character.

HEATERS
It has been lovely to enjoy our new heating in the hall. This will continue to be used this term as the cold weather doesn’t look like ending any time soon!

SRC REPS

Congratulations to our new SRC representatives for term 3 – Skylar, Archie, Dane, Evie, Harriet, Simeon, Eli, Neve, Sasha and Mahliq. We look forward to seeing what ideas you have for this term.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Just a reminder about school uniform, and in particular socks, as there have been quite a few students wearing incorrect socks lately. School socks should be short (but above ankles) and all white. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring students are in the correct uniform.

We are looking forward to the term ahead, especially with the Whole School Production of Fantastic Mr Fox. Rehearsals have started in earnest!

CUBBY HOUSE

Wanted!  Do you have cubby house equipment that you don’t need anymore? We are looking for donations of play kitchen equipment and play food that we could use in our school cubby house.

If you have something at home that is not needed, please bring it along to school.  Thank you!

Just a friendly reminder that students need a HAT everyday!

Thank you.

Our school is using the Perspectives: Your school in focus suite of surveys developed by AISNSW to support our school improvement endeavours. The information gathered will assist in furthering the growth and development of our school community. We will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

These surveys have been specifically designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of stakeholders’ perceptions of five important areas: School Environment, Teaching and Learning, Student Wellbeing, Leadership and Community. All staff, students (Years 5 & 6 only), parents/guardians, leaders and board members will be invited to participate.

The surveys will be available from 4th August to 17th August and are conducted online, taking approximately 15 minutes to complete. The survey link will be distributed via email to all from ‘evidence@aisnsw.edu.au’ on behalf of the school.

Your input and contribution are important to the success of our continuous school improvement process as we aspire to improve the learning experience for everyone at our school.

For any enquiries about the surveys please contact the school for more details.

MRS BIAR'S CLASS

The K-2 class was lucky enough to have a ‘Living Safely with Pets’ program presented to us on Thursday. This program teaches students how to be safe around dogs and what it means to be a responsible pet owner.

The pet educator brought her pet dog, Boots, and the students learnt how to be safe around dogs. We did some singing, role plays and dancing and learnt how to safely say hello to a dog. Then we all got to go up and meet Boots.

It was a fun morning!

MISS RIDLEY'S CLASS

This term in Project-Based Learning, our driving question is:

How can I, as an artist, create a collection using different art forms for an exhibition that helps give mainly music students a sense of belonging at St Paul’s?

We have been exploring different art forms and experimenting with drawing, painting, sculpture, and print making.

Blessings,

Miss Ridley

SCHOOL PRODUCTION - FANTASTIC MR FOX

The excitement is building and rehearsals are well underway! Students have made a great start learning their lines and collaborating to stage scenes. We look forward to welcoming you to come on an adventure with us as Mr Fox uses his cunning to outwit the farmers and save his loved ones, all while facing his own flaws and learning the importance of family!

SAVE THE DATE – Thursday 28th August.

We’re calling for all willing helpers to make our school production become a reality!

This can be in a few different ways:

1.      If you happen to have any large cardboard boxes lying around, please send them in.

2.      Perhaps you have a keen interest to sew or an eye for the creative arts? We are looking for people who are willing and able to assist in preparations of costumes, props and set decorations. Please fill out the online form using the link https://forms.office.com/r/KQfBi0VqXK to let us know your availability/willingness to help in this way.

3.      Consider a sponsorship package to assist with the costs of costumes, props, set decorations, venue hire, and sound/lighting hire.

Please share with others you know who may be happy to support our school production in any of these ways.

RAS ATHLETICS

13 students from years 3-6 travelled to Albury on Wednesday 30th July for the annual RAS Athletics Carnival. It was great to see all students keen to participate and do their best in all their events – you did yourselves and our school proud! Thank you to our ever-supportive parents for transporting the students and cheering them on throughout the day.

Special congratulations to James on placing 3rd in the Junior Boys Shot Put.

Also, a massive congratulations to all our students, achieving the Aggregate Champions for the day.

P&F UPDATE

Well the Year of the Big Shed came, we saw it and we conquered it! The 2024 HMFD was a huge success. We had 150 shift spaces to fill and we did it! Thank you to all our families & friends who pitched in over the event. We needed your support and you didn't let us down.

Thanks to our combined effort we raised over $50,000!!

The P&F have decided to contribute $50,000 to be put towards a new playground and outdoor learning space at school, a place current and future students will be able to enjoy for many years to come.

Our first event in 2025 will be our annual Welcome BBQ to be held on Sunday 2nd February. This is always a great day to catch up after the summer break. More details to come in the New Year.
