A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Anna- Marie Bothe Principal

This week, the advertisement for a new teaching principal at St Paul’s went online. This position will begin at the start of 2027 and will provide a principal for St Paul’s on site 5 days a week. I will be sad to say goodbye to the wonderful people in our school community at the end of this year as I increase my days at St John’s Jindera from 4 days to 5 per week for 2027. Until then, I look forward to leading St Paul’s, along with our Deputy Principal, Christine Biar, throughout what will be a fantastic Semester Two for our school. Please keep the principal recruitment process in your prayers.

Co-Curricular Activities

School Grounds After Hours

Just a quick reminder that the school grounds can’t be used for personal activities outside school hours. Because of insurance requirements, we’re unable to allow anyone on-site after hours. Thanks for respecting the space and helping us keep the school safe and secure.

Student Attendance and Early Pick‑Ups

We’ve noticed a high number of student absences over the past few weeks. If your child is unwell, we absolutely encourage them to stay home to rest and recover rather than risk spreading illness to others.

However, we are also seeing many students being collected early in the afternoons. These afternoon sessions contain valuable learning time, and frequent early departures mean students may be missing important teaching and class activities.

With our school concert approaching, it is especially important that students attend school if they are well. Rehearsals are already taking place during afternoon sessions, and consistent attendance will help ensure all students are prepared and confident.Thank you for your support in helping us maintain strong attendance and a smooth lead‑up to our concert.

Extended leave during school term

If your child will be absent from school for more than 14 days, you are required to apply for extended leave. Please contact the school office and complete an Application for Extended Leave of Absence form.Approval from the Principal is necessary, as extended absences can significantly impact learning. To avoid complications, please seek approval before booking any holidays.

Lions Public Speaking Competition

This year, the top 4-5 students from each class will make their speeches to the rest of the school on Wednesday July 1st at 9.30am. All parents are warmly welcome to come along and listen to the speeches. From this presentation, the finalists will be chosen to represent St Paul’s on Sunday 26th July.

AI Workshop for Parents

Lutheran Education are inviting all parents to a Cyber Safety Webinar on Wednesday 19th August at 7pm. This webinar is led by the Cyber Safety Project and will be worth watching! In today's connected world, parents play a powerful role in shaping safe and healthy digital habits. This practical session is designed especially for busy parents.  Please scan the QR code on the poster to register.

MRS BIAR'S CLASS

This term the K-3 class have been looking at different materials and their purposes. We discovered some amazing art projects that reused different materials and so we decided to make our own. From the photos, you can see how amazing they look! We then went to Myoora to play cards, and we gave them our beautiful artwork to hang in their rooms.

The Kinders are doing a great job of reading and writing. Just look at their work!

MRS BASSETT'S CLASS

This week, our class have been investigating heritage sites in Australia which have significance for First Nations Australians. They are using maths skills including rounding, estimating and reading, interpreting maps and directions to plan a journey to visit 3 sites.

We have been busily working on our speeches for the Lions Club Public Speaking Competition. Class speeches will be held on the Monday and Tuesday of Week 11 with the top 4 speaking at the school level final on Wednesday 1st of July. All are welcome to attend to watch at our school hall at 9:30am. The top two from 3/4 will then compete at the local level early next term.

MISS H'S CLASS

Throughout this term, we have been reading ‘Us Mob Walawurru’  which is a warm and engaging story that celebrates culture, community, and connection to Country. Told through the voices of children, the book shares the experiences of a group who learn from Elders, care for their environment, and take pride in who they are. With its strong sense of belonging and respect for tradition, the story highlights the importance of working together and valuing culture in everyday life. In conjunction with reading the book, we have also been learning about the 1967 Referendum and writing a factual recount.

Students have begun preparing for their speeches for the Lions Club Public Speaking Competition. All students will be delivering their speeches to classmates at the end of week 10/ beginning of week 11. The top 4-5 students will then make their speeches to the rest of the school on Wednesday July 1st at 9.30am. All parents are warmly welcome to come along and listen to the speeches. From this presentation, the finalists will be chosen to represent St Paul’s on Sunday 26th July.

The Zones of Regulation is a regular time set at the beginning of a session where students check in with how they are feeling and prepare themselves for learning. It helps students build awareness of their emotions and energy levels so they can better manage their behaviour. The goal is to help students understand their current state and use strategies to move toward the Green Zone, where they are calm, focused, and ready to learn. One of the activities that students are engaging with in this space is jigsaw puzzles.

Please join us next Tuesday for Chapel, which will be led by our captains.

SRC SPOTLIGHT

Leadership Activities – Cooking/Pop Up Tuckshop

This Friday our Cooking leadership group will be holding a Pop-Up Tuckshop to sell the goodies they have been making.  

Term 2 Fundraising

All money raised this term will be donated to FightMND to support the work of this organisation as they work towards finding effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure for motor neurone disease.

 

Upcoming Events

The SRC are holding a Pyjama Day on the last day of term. We will be watching a movie and having pizza and fruit juices.

Gymnastics

Gymnastics has been fun and educational. We have been learning shapes like roof, angry cat and scorpion handstands. We can’t wait until next week to learn more skills.

Inge - I finally learnt how to do a proper cartwheel

Meg - I like jumping off the springboard

Leadership Activity – Football Competition

There is a leadership activity that Ryan and Wyatt are running every Tuesday at first lunch. It is a football competition with four teams (the captains are Michael, John, Az and Gabe). Students come along each week to play, and everyone works together and shows good sportsmanship.

In Week 10 or 11, we will have a grand final to celebrate the competition. We had some help with goal umpiring from James, which kept the games fair and organised.

Overall, it has been really fun and a great way for students to be active and involved.

P&F UPDATE

Well the Year of the Big Shed came, we saw it and we conquered it! The 2024 HMFD was a huge success. We had 150 shift spaces to fill and we did it! Thank you to all our families & friends who pitched in over the event. We needed your support and you didn't let us down.

Thanks to our combined effort we raised over $50,000!!

The P&F have decided to contribute $50,000 to be put towards a new playground and outdoor learning space at school, a place current and future students will be able to enjoy for many years to come.

Our first event in 2025 will be our annual Welcome BBQ to be held on Sunday 2nd February. This is always a great day to catch up after the summer break. More details to come in the New Year.
