But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:41
Our school and local Henty community have had a tough semester with experiences that have caused feelings of loss or confusion. It’s in these difficult times that our community members rally around with the most incredible acts of selflessness, love and compassion.
We’ve made a poster of our school value: ‘We are Adventurous’, which includes the following:
Adventure is how we make sense of and shape the world around us and our place within it.
We often think that being adventurous is just about exciting challenges but having an adventurous mindset also helps us face situations we may naturally want to avoid, such as talking to someone who’s grieving when we don’t know what to say or putting one foot in front of the other when the going gets tough. As Christians, we ‘make sense of and shape the world around us’ through the eyes of Jesus and we most certainly see that around us at St Paul’s. Thank you for the love and support you keep showing each other – what wonderful role models you are to our students.
Considering all the colds and sniffles that are around now, I thought everyone would enjoy the following poem:
I have a little teddy bear
I like to hug and hold.
But, yesterday, I told my mum,
“I think he has a cold.”
I said, “I heard him sniffle,
and he seems to have a chill.
His forehead feels a little hot.
I swear my bear is ill.
“Let’s take him to the doctor
who can diagnose diseases,
and cure him of his sniffles
and his shivers and his sneezes.
”My mother said, “Don’t worry dear.
You might not be aware,
but sniffles aren’t uncommon
in your average teddy bear.
”She said, “His nose is runny
and his eyes are red and puffy.
But I don’t think he has a cold.
He’s just a little stuffy.”

The K-2 class has enjoyed two maths investigations in the last two weeks.
In the first investigation, the students had to design a hopscotch game, after playing hopscotch first. We trialled some of the designs and discussed which were easier and harder and why. This investigation involved a lot of talk about different shapes.
This week, in small groups, the students designed a marble ramp so that a marble would travel at least 15 popsticks from the end of the ramp. The challenge in this investigation was creating a turn in the ramp!

This week, our class have been researching and writing information reports on endangered animals. We have been reading a novel called ‘The Last Bear’. This story follows a girl named April and her unlikely friendship with the last polar bear on Bear Island in Norway. This inspired us to investigate other animals that are endangered. Students have researched animals including the black rhino and the red panda.
In maths, we have been having fun learning about position and coordinates by playing battleships.
Blessings,
Miss Ridley
In History, 4/5/6 have been examining the effects of a significant development or event on the Australian Colonies and the role that significant individuals and groups played in shaping and changing a colony. We are now beginning the process of showcasing our learning centred around these themes. Students enjoyed the opportunity to play the role of a miner to locate ‘gold’ around the school (as long as they had their miner’s licence with them!)
Blessings,
Felicity
On Tuesday, Years 4/5/6 were blessed to travel to Lutheran School Wagga Wagga to watch and participate in the ‘Music in My Suitcase’ performance. The Mara! band shared songs from many different cultures that they learnt abroad and right here in Australia. They use music as the common language because it is fun and it helps us to understand and connect with others, which can change our lives.
Thank you to Andrew for driving the bus, and Lutheran School Wagga Wagga for the invitation to join them for this amazing experience.
Congratulations to Wyatt, Gabe and Abel who competed at the CIS Cross Country Championships in Sydney last week.
Gabe (9:00.1) finished 78th and Abel (9:01.8) finished 83rd out of a field of 110 runners in the 8/9 Boys.
Wyatt (13:52.2) finished 90th out of a field of 114 runners in the 11 Boys.
Well done boys on a fantastic effort!

Well the Year of the Big Shed came, we saw it and we conquered it! The 2024 HMFD was a huge success. We had 150 shift spaces to fill and we did it! Thank you to all our families & friends who pitched in over the event. We needed your support and you didn't let us down.
Thanks to our combined effort we raised over $50,000!!
The P&F have decided to contribute $50,000 to be put towards a new playground and outdoor learning space at school, a place current and future students will be able to enjoy for many years to come.
Our first event in 2025 will be our annual Welcome BBQ to be held on Sunday 2nd February. This is always a great day to catch up after the summer break. More details to come in the New Year.
