TERM 2

WEEK 5

2026 TERM 2 WEEK 3

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Anna- Marie Bothe Principal

On Friday 22 May, members of our school community came together for our Working Bee and formal opening of our new playground. I’ve heard such positive comments about the community spirit and acts of service that were so evident! Thank you to Kerri Klemke who spoke on behalf of the P&F, Tim Lubke who spoke on behalf of the School Board and David Walsh who spoke on behalf of School Leadership. This was such a team effort by all – I would like to thank our Business Manager, David Walsh for managing the process with Moduplay who constructed our amazing playground.

Student Agency

At St Paul’s, student agency is defined as:

the capacity to set a goal, reflect and act responsibly to effect change. It is about acting rather than being acted upon; shaping rather than being shaped; and making responsible decisions and choices rather than accepting those determined by others.

We equip our students with the skills to make responsible decisions in their learning, for themselves and for others. This links beautifully to our School Value focus for this term: ‘We are Adventurous”. We believe that adventure is the sense of excitement, curiosity and bravery with which we approach our learning at St Paul’s. Some examples of these opportunities for students in 2026 are:

  • Our SRC members creating initiatives to enhance school culture and enact our school values.
  • Nature and Loose Parts Play – at playtime students have access to a wide range of spaces where they can use natural and man-made materials to build, create, role play and use teamwork.
  • Giving students choices in how they will transfer knowledge and skills taught in PBL units into real-life action to make a positive impact on their community.
  • Our younger students trying new things and learning new skills under the guidance and peer support of our older students.

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

CHRISTINE'S

CORNER

What a great community we have here at St Paul’s! This was highlighted by the wonderful effort by all at the Working Bee and Opening of the new playground last Friday. Thank you to all who gave of their time to help our school look neat and tidy.

Kinder Connect

On Friday 5th June St Paul’s will be conducting a Kinder Connect afternoon (from 2-3pm).

If you know of anyone who may have a student commencing Kinder next year, please invite them to come along for an hour of fun activities. Contact the office to book a place.

Dental Van

We have secured the Australian Smile Group’s mobile Dental Van service from 10th June. It has been a few years since we have had a visit from a dental service, so it is wonderful to see many families taking up this offer.

Lions’ Public Speaking Competition

The Lions’ Public Speaking Competition will be again held in Henty this year. Prior to this, students will have the opportunity to prepare a speech and speak in front of their peers. From these speeches, students will be chosen to represent St Paul’s at the Lions Club level on Sunday July 26th. More details to follow.

Just a friendly reminder that students need a HAT everyday!

Thank you.

MRS BIAR'S CLASS

The K-3 class have been looking at our school value of being adventurous and being brave.

We have had discussions about being brave when someone else is not being kind, and how it takes more courage to choose kind words even when you are upset over what someone else has done or said.  In response to this, the students have been creating posters to display around the school about being kind.

This is such a great message for all of us to remember!

Blessings,

Mrs Biar

MRS BASSETT'S CLASS

3/4 have created a Maths in Nature display using leaves, flowers and bark collected from around the school grounds.

They used maths skills including identifying tessellating and symmetrical patterns, and estimating and calculating the perimeter and area of irregular shapes.

Blessings,

Mrs Bassett

MISS H'S CLASS

Last week students in 5/6 completed their next Maths investigations.

Year 5 tackled the investigation ‘Radical Renovation’ in which they had to use rectangles to create a design that has the largest perimeter possible to decorate a bedroom wall. They used maths skills including calculating perimeter and area to plan their design.

Year 6 embarked on the investigation ‘Unique You’ where they had to measure and record their own and their classmates’ quantifiable personal information to create three different types of graphs. They had to use maths skills including collecting and displaying data, and comparing and analysing graphs.

Blessings,

Miss H

P&F UPDATE

Well the Year of the Big Shed came, we saw it and we conquered it! The 2024 HMFD was a huge success. We had 150 shift spaces to fill and we did it! Thank you to all our families & friends who pitched in over the event. We needed your support and you didn't let us down.

Thanks to our combined effort we raised over $50,000!!

The P&F have decided to contribute $50,000 to be put towards a new playground and outdoor learning space at school, a place current and future students will be able to enjoy for many years to come.

Our first event in 2025 will be our annual Welcome BBQ to be held on Sunday 2nd February. This is always a great day to catch up after the summer break. More details to come in the New Year.
