TERM 2

WEEK 5

2026 TERM 2 WEEK 3

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Anna- Marie Bothe Principal

What an exciting start to Term 2 our students had when they got to play on our new playground for the first time! When we involved them in the design process last year, one of their top priorities was height with a lot of climbing. Let me just say I spent most of my play duty that day looking up at children perched on top of bars, the rock-climbing wall and rope webbing with enormous grins on their faces!

New Playground Opening

Please come to the opening of our new playground on Friday 22 May at 5pm after our Working Bee (which starts at 3:30pm). All families will receive an email about these events.

Kinder Connect - Friday 5th June, 2:00-3:00pm

We have begun advertising this event for families who have enrolled their child in Kinder at St Paul’s for 2027, as well as those considering enrolment. Christine Biar will lead engaging activities for the children as a ‘come and see’ opportunity for them and their parents. This is in addition to the five Kinder Transition Sessions Christine leads in Terms 3 and 4.

We have also announced that a 50% discount will be given for the first year of school for all 2027 Kinder enrolments.

Please spread the word in our community about these two exciting initiatives!

Term 2 School Value

Our focus value for this term is ‘We are Adventurous’. This is not only in our outdoor play, but also in our learning as we take on new experiences, understandings and skills with a ‘can do’ attitude. Our Chapel theme is based on this school value and throughout the term we will share examples on social media of how we embed is in everyday school life.

CORNER

New Playground

All students have certainly been enjoying the new playground. I have been impressed by the creativity and imagination the students have been using already.

ANZAC Day march

Thank you to all students who participated in the ANZAC Day march and service. It was a great service and our students represented St Paul’s proudly. Thank you to the parents for their support.

Athletics Carnival

Congratulations to all students for a wonderful effort last Friday at our Athletics Carnival. I am amazed by the number of records that were broken! See the article in this newsletter for further details.

Hats

Just a reminder that students still need their hats at school until further notice. The UV rating has still been moderate, which is when hats are encouraged to be worn.

P & F meeting

The next P& F meeting will be held on Tuesday 19th May at 7pm at the Klemke’s place.  All parents and friends of St Paul’s are warmly welcome to come along.

Working Bee/ Playground Opening

Please save the date – Friday 22nd May will be our Working Bee (starting at 3.30pm) followed by the official opening of the new playground (at 5.00pm). Dinner will be provided after these proceedings. It will be a great time to tidy up our school and then celebrate our new playground, and everyone is welcome to attend both or either event.

Mother’s Day

Thank you to the Year 5/6 class and Miss H for organising our Mother’s Day Chapel, Mini-Olympics and morning tea on Tuesday.  We wish all mothers a wonderful day on Sunday and we hope that you are all spoilt by your children!

Just a friendly reminder that students need a HAT everyday!

Thank you.

MRS BIAR'S CLASS

The Kinders have been learning to read and write simple words using the letters they have learnt so far. Look at the amazing work they have been doing!

They have also been learning all about different shapes and have had a great time making pictures using different shapes.

We have been loving our new playground and the fun we can have during our breaks!

Next Tuesday the K-2 class will be leading Chapel. You are all most welcome to come along at 9.20am.

Blessings,

Mrs Biar

Our STEM challenge last week was to construct a straw tower using only popsticks, straws and tape, that would reach the ceiling.

This was quite a challenge! But team work, resilience and perseverance helped and we were so excited to see some of the teams achieve the goal.

Well done to Jonathan, Noah, Roswitha, Maeve, Sammy, Storm, Liam, Shylowe and Skylar!

MRS BASSETT'S CLASS

Students in 3/4 have been busy exploring the maths concepts of perimeter and area. We have practised calculating perimeter by measuring and adding the sides of different shapes and investigated area by covering surfaces with square units.

They applied their learning to real‑world situations such as calculating the perimeter of the new playground using a trundle wheel and creating a squared metre template to measure the area of the new handball squares.

Blessings,

Mrs Bassett

MISS H'S CLASS

What a blessing it was for 5/6 to lead Chapel this week to celebrate the mums and mother-figures in our lives. Our message was based on ‘A Mother’s Adventure’ celebrating mothers as brave guides who trust God through every season and invite their families into a life of faith, wonder, and courage.

Every Adventure Begins with Trust - Mothers often step into seasons they’ve never faced before. Just like explorers, they can trust God even when the path is unclear.

Mothers are Everyday Trail Guides - They help us find our way. They teach us, lead us, encourage us, and sometimes even carry us when life feels too hard.

Adventure Includes Highs and Lows - Mothers experience both. They stay up late, make hard decisions, and do a lot of unseen work. It’s not always glamorous, but it’s always meaningful.

God Equips Mothers for the Journey - God gives mothers everything they need for the journey — strength, wisdom, patience, and even humour.

It was great to spend time with our mums, grandmothers and mother-figures competing in our Mother’s Day Mini Olympics.

Wishing all mums and mother-figures a Happy Mother’s Day!

Blessings,

Miss H

SRC SPOTLIGHT

Term 2 SRC representatives are Meg, Tilly, Ryan, Tahnee, Louisa, Solomon, Michael and Noah.

Throughout Term 1 the SRC has raised $177.83 (including our prize money from the Henty Show). We are trying to do fundraisers and spend it towards new sandpit equipment, such as new shovels, rakes and trucks/diggers.

This term, our Year 5/6 leaders on the SRC are looking to run some lunchtime activities like a cooking club and a football tournament.

P&F UPDATE

Well the Year of the Big Shed came, we saw it and we conquered it! The 2024 HMFD was a huge success. We had 150 shift spaces to fill and we did it! Thank you to all our families & friends who pitched in over the event. We needed your support and you didn't let us down.

Thanks to our combined effort we raised over $50,000!!

The P&F have decided to contribute $50,000 to be put towards a new playground and outdoor learning space at school, a place current and future students will be able to enjoy for many years to come.

Our first event in 2025 will be our annual Welcome BBQ to be held on Sunday 2nd February. This is always a great day to catch up after the summer break. More details to come in the New Year.
