TERM 2
WEEK 5
WEEK 5
Anna-Marie Bothe
Principal
Outdoor Learning
This term our staff have focused on professional learning about the benefits different types of outdoor play have on child development and next term we will begin looking at the benefits of outdoor learning. Last week I attended a meeting at the Henty Library with representatives of Wagga and local Landcare, Wiradjuri People, Henty schools, National Parks, local farmers and Henty residents to raise awareness of ways we can care for Doodle Cooma Swamp and learn more about its Indigenous heritage and value. We look forward to partnering with the Henty community to come up with ways to involve our students at St Paul’s in being caretakers of this special place.
Masterplan for St Paul’s
This week we began the process of creating a new Masterplan for St Paul’s that will enhance the way our school facilities and resources help us provide high quality care and education for our students. St Paul’s staff, along with representatives of our School Board, P&F and St Paul’s Lutheran Church were led through this initial planning session by Garry Mitchell, Project manager, who has established Masterplans with other regional Lutheran schools for many years. We are excited about the possibilities this planning process can create for making improvements to our school site and pray that God leads us with wisdom as we make decisions that benefit our school community.
Our new covered walkways connecting our school hall to other school buildings are almost complete. A concrete ramp for disability access has been installed with a handrail being added soon.
School Holidays
Semester One School Reports have been sent out, PBL Units are wrapping up, School Production auditions have been happening and the excitement is building for the end of term! What an adventurous one we’ve had! We pray that all our school families have a safe and enjoyable school holiday and we’ll see you back at school on Tuesday 22 July.
On Sunday we celebrated Anna-Marie Bothe’s installation as Principal. Thank you to Neve, Evie and Abel for doing Bible readings. They all did a great job representing St Paul’s. We look forward to the future of St Paul’s with Anna-Marie as our leader.
We have been excited to see the progress on the covered walkway. It is nearly finished now!
Wishing everyone a safe, relaxing and enjoyable break from school over the holidays. We look forward to seeing all students return on Tuesday 22nd July, ready for more learning!
Take care.
Christine

The K-3 PBL this term has been looking at how we change as we grow older. The students went and interviewed some of the Myoora residents to find out what they liked to do when they were younger, and what they like to do now that they are older.
This week we went back to visit again and played some games with them and even gave them hand massages. We also did some baking and produced a book of word searches, a bookmark and a bracelet for each of them.
It has been lovely to build a connection with the Myoora residents, and we look forward to continuing it next term.
Not sure what to do in the holidays? Here are some suggestions from the students –
No matter what you do, I hope you have a lovely time with your family.
Blessings,
Christine
This week, we have been creating art using patterns and symbols from our maths investigation.
Students use maths skills to describe their patterns. The patterns are made by increasing and decreasing by 2, 3, 4, 5 & 10.
For example, an increasing by 3 pattern would be: 3 stars 6 stars 9 stars 12 stars incorporated into the shape they are decorating.
Blessings,
Miss Ridley
In Maths, students have been working on their investigation ‘Factor Frenzy’ this week. Their challenge was to find a subtraction number sentence that only uses whole numbers between 18 and 90, with the answer being a number with the most factors.
4/5/6 have been busily preparing for their PBL showcase, to answer the driving question ‘How can we as Historians, bring to life significant events and people that shaped the Australian colonies?’ with a particular focus on the discovery of gold. Students have used the green screen to film and create videos that highlight their learning as part of this experience.
Wishing you all a safe and enjoyable holidays.
Blessings,
Felicity
Last week 5/6 had the privilege of spending time with some of the residents at Myoora Homestead. We played a few games of UNO, read some well-known Banjo Patterson poems (some of us were even lucky enough to have a poem read to us by a resident!), and shared time and stories with one another. Students were also gifted a crocheted bookmark made by one of the residents.
We have also been working on our speeches leading up to the Lions Club Public Speaking Competition. The topic students had to speak about was ‘Technology – The impact of fast-moving technology on our lives and the environment is often overlooked, yet it can be far reaching. Is technology moving too fast for humans to keep up? Discuss.’
Congratulations to Wyatt, Gabe and Abel who competed at the CIS Cross Country Championships in Sydney last week.
Gabe (9:00.1) finished 78th and Abel (9:01.8) finished 83rd out of a field of 110 runners in the 8/9 Boys.
Wyatt (13:52.2) finished 90th out of a field of 114 runners in the 11 Boys.
Well done boys on a fantastic effort!

Well the Year of the Big Shed came, we saw it and we conquered it! The 2024 HMFD was a huge success. We had 150 shift spaces to fill and we did it! Thank you to all our families & friends who pitched in over the event. We needed your support and you didn't let us down.
Thanks to our combined effort we raised over $50,000!!
The P&F have decided to contribute $50,000 to be put towards a new playground and outdoor learning space at school, a place current and future students will be able to enjoy for many years to come.
Our first event in 2025 will be our annual Welcome BBQ to be held on Sunday 2nd February. This is always a great day to catch up after the summer break. More details to come in the New Year.
