TERM 2
WEEK 5
WEEK 5
Anna- Marie Bothe Principal
As we come to the end of Term 1, there is so much to reflect on with gratitude! Thank you to our students, families and staff for making our sports and school community events full of supportive encouragement and a sense of connection to each other.
Student Wellbeing
Supporting the wellbeing of our students – socially, emotionally, physically, academically and spiritually – is our priority at St Paul’s. Let’s celebrate the way we support all students to feel safe and valued:
School TV resources on our website in the ‘Student Support’ section are constantly updated to support our families in meeting the wellbeing needs of our students. This term, an online webinar, Anxiety and Depression to Foster Resilience, was made available for parents/carers and the recording is now available. (See details below)
Our Learner Profile outlines being curious, empathetic, risk-taking in learning and collaborative. Elements of each quality provide a guide for engaging social and emotional learning.
Cross-age Learning and Play – our students have a strong sense of belonging and we see that in and out of the classroom. Students of all ages play together. Our composite classes provide safe, encouraging environments in which students learn at their own ability level through connection with others.
Counselling can be arranged if the need arises, with the aim of supporting not only our students, but also their families.

Zones of Regulation - when students return to learning from playtime, they identify one of 4 Zones of Regulation they are in. Our staff have been trained to provide support for students needing emotional regulation to prepare them for learning. This develops students’ emotional literacy and regulation skills.
Restorative Practices focus on teaching students how to repair harm, restore relationships and adjust behaviour positively. They support our positive behaviour learning approach which includes appropriately considered consequences for negative behaviour.
We want our students and families to know how valued they are:
For the body is not one member, but many.

We look forward to delivering Part 2 of the Webinar Series in Term 2, with further details to be shared in early Term 2.

New Playground
It has been so great to see the progress on the playground in the last few weeks! We have seen diggers, drills and even boom cranes pouring the concrete! The students have really enjoyed watching all the machinery at work and I hope they have a better appreciation of the amount of work involved in constructing a new playground. Hopefully the end is near, and we look forward to next term, when it will be fully operational and handed over to the students to enjoy.
Well done to the students who represented St Paul’s at both RAS Netball Trials and Paul Kelly Cup. It is always a great opportunity to be involved with others from outside our community and learn new skills through this experience.
On Monday the students enjoyed an AFL clinic, held by AFL NSW/ACT staff. All the students had a great time participating in different activities which improved their football skills. Thanks to Craig Hancock for organising this for the students.
Just a reminder that Anzac Day will be Saturday 25th April (the end of the first week of Term 2). All students are welcome to come and march and represent St Paul’s. Please wear your full school uniform. We gather at Ivor St (between Sladen and Lyne Streets) at 10.15am before we march down to Henty Memorial Park for the service and wreath laying service at 11am.
I hope everyone has a blessed Easter and a relaxing holiday. We look forward to coming back for Term 2 on Tuesday 21st April to enjoy our new playground!
A big thank you to the P & F for supplying the school with a new portable sound system. This will be used for events such as Swimming Carnival, Cross Country, Athletics Carnival and any events we have at school on the oval or under the COLA, where we need to be heard better.
Thank you to our generous P & F, for your continued support!

Last week, the K-3 class had another STEM challenge –
We were astounded by the results – quite a few groups were able to make a path of 50-60cm! The students were really showing resilience, risk taking and cooperation with this challenge.
Mrs Zweck was busy with her tape measure, measuring how far between the 2 cups!
Wishing everyone a safe and blessed Easter and holiday break.

A couple of weeks ago, 4/5/6 students had the great opportunity to visit the Bonegilla Migrant Centre. We got to explore parts of the remaining ‘Block 19’ and hear stories of what life was like, the living conditions they had to endure and the challenges faced by the migrants who spent time there. It was also interesting to discover the family connections for some of our students who had family members live there!
Thanks to Bek and Kerri for transporting the students.
Wishing everyone a safe and blessed Easter, and a relaxing holiday!
Blessings,
Miss H

Merit & Values Awards
Well the Year of the Big Shed came, we saw it and we conquered it! The 2024 HMFD was a huge success. We had 150 shift spaces to fill and we did it! Thank you to all our families & friends who pitched in over the event. We needed your support and you didn't let us down.
Thanks to our combined effort we raised over $50,000!!
The P&F have decided to contribute $50,000 to be put towards a new playground and outdoor learning space at school, a place current and future students will be able to enjoy for many years to come.
Our first event in 2025 will be our annual Welcome BBQ to be held on Sunday 2nd February. This is always a great day to catch up after the summer break. More details to come in the New Year.
