TERM 2
WEEK 5
WEEK 5
Anna-Marie Bothe
Interim Principal
This week, we sadly farewelled the Shijo family who have been part of our school community for the last 3 years. I was struck by how deep their personal connections with others at St Paul’s have become. Our staff are feeling a sense of loss and are aware that you and your children may be too.
The way that our school farewelled the Shijo children on their last day of school this week involved our students showing enormous compassion – God’s love in action. Everyone spent the last session of the day having fun together as a whole school to make the most of the remaining time they had. This is what sets St Paul’s apart. Our school community is like a big family in which we support each other through the happy and sad times.
We pray that the Shijo family’s move goes smoothly and that they continue to be blessed in their new home.

Our Cross Country is fast approaching – Friday 11th April, beginning at 10am. This year we will go down to the Henty Golf Course for our run. If any parents can help out on the day (especially with checkpoints) it would be appreciated. An email has gone out for you to fill a form if you are able to help.
After the Cross Country, we will head back to school and the P & F will provide a sausage sizzle and our SRC reps will run fun activities for everyone to participate in. We have invited the mainly music families to come along to join the fun. This will be a great way to finish the term.
St Paul’s is now on Instagram! I would encourage all parents to like and share items that are seen on both Facebook and Instagram, as it is a wonderful way to spread the word about our fantastic school.
Just a reminder that Anzac Day will take place in the holidays (April 25th). We would love our students to march and represent St Paul’s. If you are in Henty, please attend. Further details will be in the final newsletter for the term.

Last week the K-2 class enjoyed a Maths Investigation called Oz-Animal Olympics. The class was placed into 3 teams – Possums, Kangaroos and Cockatoos. We enjoyed some fun activities such as leapfrog relay, wombat wiggle, jumping Joe throw and platypus push.
Gold medals were placed on a chart for the winning team for each race. We did lots of work on ordinals and graphing and, as you can see from the graph, it was a tight competition!
Blessings,

3/4 have been practising measuring in metres. We discussed why it is important to measure with a standard unit of measurement. Students measured the classroom in steps and the results were all different! We decided the best way to measure the length of our classroom was in metres. We then estimated objects in the classroom, finding objects that are about a metre, less than a metre, and more than a metre in length.
Blessings,
Miss Ridley
In 5/6, we finally reached the end of our novel ‘The Detective’s Guide to Ocean Travel’ and discovered the identity of the world-famous Saffron Diamond thieves – which wasn’t who anyone suspected! We discussed the technique of mystery writers using ‘red herrings’ throughout a story to divert our attention or mislead us, and how it keeps the reader or audience guessing or focusing on the wrong thing.
In Creative Arts, 4/5/6 have explored the artworks of Henri Matisse. We learnt about the different styles of art he used throughout his life, viewing and discussing a variety of his artworks. Students then had the opportunity to create their own artwork using the technique of collage.
Blessings,
Felicity
We had such a lovely morning spending time with our Grandparents!
The 2/3 class lead our special Grandparents Day Chapel on Tuesday which was followed by a picnic morning tea. We enjoyed playing games, reading to our grandparents and showing them around the school.
Thank you to all our grandparents and family for joining us!

Well the Year of the Big Shed came, we saw it and we conquered it! The 2024 HMFD was a huge success. We had 150 shift spaces to fill and we did it! Thank you to all our families & friends who pitched in over the event. We needed your support and you didn't let us down.
Thanks to our combined effort we raised over $50,000!!
The P&F have decided to contribute $50,000 to be put towards a new playground and outdoor learning space at school, a place current and future students will be able to enjoy for many years to come.
Our first event in 2025 will be our annual Welcome BBQ to be held on Sunday 2nd February. This is always a great day to catch up after the summer break. More details to come in the New Year.
On Friday 1st of September, Years 3 to 6 went to Yerong Creek for the Bernie O’Connor Carnival. We played with St Joseph’s, Culcairn and St Patrick’s, Holbrook. It was a great day! The sun was shining, and everyone had lot’s of fun.
The 5/6 boys played footy and came 1st for the whole day. We played against The Rock and the score was 12 to 32. The 3-4 boys came 3rd in the whole day. Well done to the 5/6 and 3/4 girls playing netball who got runners up.
Well done to Ivan and Neve for playing with students they didn’t know.
Congratulations to Blake for winning the furthest kicking competition.
Thank you for the coaches and families who helped on the day.
